Casting simulation
Numerically finite element (FEM) simulation
Today, simulation technology is playing an important role in product development and in the development of production processes. Grunewald is using simulation calculations for product design and tool design as well as in developing manufacturing processes.
Based on an FEM program, structural-mechanical and thermal calculations for products and tool systems and casting simulations are carried out at Grunewald. The focal points of the structural-mechanical calculations are: sind:
- Static load calculations
- Stiffness analyses
The focal points of the thermal calculations are:
- Thermal economy calculations
- Heating and cooling-down simulations
- Inherent stress calculations (thermal/mechanical)
- Warpage calculations (thermal/mechanical)
Casting simulations may be carried out for various casting processes:
- Mould filling simulation
- Solidification simulation
- Calculation of specific component characteristics
- Calculations for inherent stress and warpage
The technological-scientific calculations methods of the simulation help the product and tool development [departments] to create solutions that are functional and manufacturable. For the casting process, casting systems and process parameters can be laid out reliably in order to produce high-quality casting components.
